The Harmoni Imlek Nusantara event serves as a form of acculturation of diverse Indonesian cultures, according to Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar. The peak event in Jakarta on February 28, 2026, promotes Indonesia as a destination for Imlek and Ramadan celebrations, which coincide this year. The celebration involves collaboration between central and regional governments across various regions.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, who also serves as General Chair of the National Imlek Committee 2026, stated that Harmoni Imlek Nusantara reflects Indonesia's unique cultural acculturation. In her speech at the peak event in Jakarta on Saturday night, February 28, 2026, she emphasized, "Indonesian cultural acculturation exists only in Indonesia, where our source code (foundation) is culture. With the creativity of the nation's children, we can produce an extraordinary economic driving machine."
The event features a people's stage and promotes local products through bazaars and talent performances. Irene Umar added that culture, as a national identity, can become a new economic driver, and she invited collaboration from various parties to develop it. Performances include communities practicing taichi, silat, wing chun, wushu, barongsai, and drone attractions forming various shapes.
She further stated, "This is Indonesia. We want to show that this is Harmoni Imlek Nusantara, that Indonesia is the most inclusive country in the world because we are Indonesia, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, different, but still one."
