Ralf Schumacher, the 50-year-old brother of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, and his 36-year-old partner Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne plan to marry. In a joint Instagram post, they share: “We are happy to confirm that Ralf Schumacher and his partner Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne will marry.” In the photo, the couple smiles at the camera.
The pair expresses joy over the heartfelt congratulations and support in the comments. They do not disclose further details, however. “Ralf & Étienne will not comment on further personal details and ask for respect for their privacy. Thank you for your understanding,” the statement reads.
Schumacher had publicly come out as gay and announced his relationship with Étienne in an Instagram post in July 2024. He was previously a successful racer himself: He competed in 180 Formula 1 races and won six. Schumacher was formerly married to Cora Schumacher; the two have been separated for many years.
The announcement comes shortly after the public revelation of the relationship and emphasizes the couple's desire for privacy amid public attention.
