A truck rammed into a scooter carrying two students near Modi Mill Flyover on Mathura Road in South Delhi, killing 19-year-old Manav and critically injuring his friend Md Saad. The driver has been detained by police.
In the early hours of Friday, a tragic accident unfolded on Mathura Road in South Delhi, as reported by Delhi Police. A PCR call was received at New Friends Colony police station about an unconscious person near Modi Mill Flyover, prompting teams to rush to the scene amid heavy traffic congestion.
The deceased was identified as 19-year-old Manav, a resident of Sarai Julena. He was found unconscious at the flyover and declared dead at the hospital. His friend, 21-year-old Md Saad from Jamia Nagar, remains in critical condition. The scooter is registered in Saad's father's name.
The driver, 32-year-old Jahul from Haryana's Nuh, has been detained. Preliminary inquiry indicates the incident occurred between 12 am and 1 am, when the truck, loaded with grocery items and heading from Badli in Northwest Delhi to Nagpur in Maharashtra, allegedly hit the scooter.
The crime team inspected the spot, where no helmets were found. A case under relevant sections of the BNS has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
