Waiting lists fall for consultations but rise for surgeries

According to MINSAL data as of March 31 2026, lists for new specialty consultations decreased while pending surgical interventions increased.

As of March 2026 a total of 2,088,245 people were waiting for a new specialty consultation, equivalent to 2,513,203 service records. These figures represent a drop of 133,874 people and 186,206 records compared to June 2025.

In contrast, surgery waiting lists showed an increase. As of March 31 2026 there were 398,496 people awaiting surgical interventions, corresponding to 458,109 records.

The data come from the Sistema de Gestión de Tiempos de Espera and were compared with the previous year's semiannual report to Congress. The Ministry of Health provided no further details on the reasons for these changes.
