Anezka Indrackova claims first junior worlds ski jumping title

Anezka Indrackova of Czechia won her first Junior World Championships gold in ski jumping on the Normal Hill in Lillehammer, Norway, edging out the defending champion by 2.3 points despite a two-hour delay due to high winds. The Czech skier's jumps of 95m and 98m secured her victory with 236.2 points. Ingvild Synnoeve Midtskogen of Norway took silver, while Sofia Mattila of Finland earned bronze with the day's longest jump.

In a thrilling competition at the FIS Junior World Championships in Lillehammer, Anezka Indrackova (CZE) overcame challenging conditions to secure her maiden title on the Normal Hill. The event, part of the 2025-26 season, saw Indrackova land jumps measuring 95m in the first round and 98m in the second, totaling 236.2 points. This placed her 2.3 points ahead of defending champion Ingvild Synnoeve Midtskogen (NOR), who scored 233.9 points with jumps of 94m and 93.5m.

Indrackova, competing in her fourth Junior Worlds, expressed her joy post-victory: “I think this is the biggest achievement I’ve ever done, I’m just so happy!” Her previous best individual results were eighth places in 2025 and 2022. Earlier, at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, she achieved her first top-20 finish with 18th in the Normal Hill Individual event.

Midtskogen, aiming to defend her title on home snow, reflected positively on her silver: “It’s nice to get silver although of course it’s not as good as last year. Even though I got gold last year I’m still happy with silver. I’ll go to Lahti now to try and get as many World Cup points as I can.”

Finland's Sofia Mattila claimed bronze, recording the competition's longest jump of 99m in the opening round for 106.3 points, which initially placed her eighth. After a two-hour halt due to high winds, she improved dramatically with a 97m second jump scoring 123.4 points, rising five spots to the podium. This marks her second podium of the season, following a second-place finish at the January Intercontinental Cup in Eisenerz, Austria. Mattila said: "It's definitely the biggest result for me. The first jump was kind of long but I didn't do the Telemark. I'm happy with the second one!"

The top six were completed by Maja Kovacic (SLO) in fourth, Anna-Fay Scharfenberg (GER) in fifth, and Kira Maria Kapustikova (SVK) in sixth. France’s Capucine Mesnil, third after the first round, finished seventh. The men's Normal Hill event follows on Thursday, with Austria's Stephan Embacher seeking a third consecutive Junior Worlds gold.
