Australian show jumpers are participating in the 13th edition of CHI Al Shaqab Presented by Longines, held from 18 to 21 February 2026 in Doha, Qatar. The event features CSI3* and CSI5* classes alongside dressage and para dressage competitions. Riders including Edwina Tops-Alexander and Georgina Harvey Lazarus represent Australia in the international field.
The CHI Al Shaqab, part of the Doha Equestrian Tour inaugurated in 2025, brings together over 40 countries with 303 riders and 469 horses in show jumping across various levels, including CSIY-B, CSICh-B, CSI1*, CSI3*, and CSI5*. This sixth event of the 2026 tour offers €1,373,000 in prize money from a season pool of €10.747 million across ten competitions.
Edwina Tops-Alexander, a five-time Olympian, is competing in the CSI5* with her Paris Olympic mount Fellow Castlefield, as well as Caetlin Vd Heffinck Z and Labantrix. She also enters Iron Dames Cydello in the CSI3*. Fellow Australian Georgina Harvey Lazarus, based in the Netherlands, rides Butterfly Ennemmel in the CSI3*. On Thursday, Lazarus and her mare jumped clear in a quick time to finish sixth out of over 70 combinations in the CSI3* 1.30m class under Faults & Time rules.
The dressage program includes a CDI5* Big Tour with 14 combinations, a CDI1* Small Tour with 12, and a CPEDI3* para dressage with 12. The CDI5* Grand Prix is scheduled for Friday, 20 February, featuring riders such as British Olympian Carl Hester with Fame, Polish pair Sandra Sysojeva and Maxima Bella, and German Evelyn Eger with Dancing Darkness 4.
Saturday, 21 February, highlights include the CDI5* Grand Prix Special, CPEDI3* Para Grand Prix Freestyle, and CDI5* Grand Prix Freestyle, alongside show jumping Grand Prix finals at 1.30m, 1.50m, and 1.60m levels.
