DICE has launched Season 2 for Battlefield 6 via update 1.000.012, following issues with content delays. The update introduces a new map, limited-time modes, vehicles, weapons, and gadgets centered around a psychoactive smoke theme. Developers at Battlefield Studios outlined plans to address future delays based on community feedback.
Battlefield 6's Season 2 arrived on February 17, 2026, through patch version 1.2.1.0 from DICE, appearing as update 1.000.012 on consoles. This release comes after reported issues with Season 2 content delays, as noted by Battlefield Studios, which revealed strategies to tackle such problems moving forward.
The update adds significant new content. A new map called Contaminated features a large-scale European mountainside battlefield around a strategic German airbase, supporting all combat sizes, land vehicles, helicopters, and modes including Conquest, Breakthrough, Escalation, Squad Death Match, and Strikepoint.
Season 2 emphasizes limited-time modes built around VL-7, a new psychoactive smoke weapon. VL-7 Strike introduces contaminated zones in multiplayer and REDSEC, requiring players to manage masks and filters to avoid disorienting effects. In Battle Royale's Synthesis mode, smoke engulfs Fort Lyndon, where players fight and loot while securing protective gear. Gauntlet: Altered State features squads competing in elimination format amid psychoactive smoke, racing to complete missions.
New additions include the AH-6 Little Bird attack helicopter for NATO forces, offering high mobility and firepower. Weapons comprise the M121 A2 belt-fed machine gun for close-range damage, GRT-CPS semi-automatic designated marksman rifle for mid- to long-range, and VCR-2 short-range assault rifle for close-quarters. Gadgets feature the 9K38 IGLA lock-on anti-air missile launcher, HTI-Mk2 recon device for detecting enemy gadgets and neutralizing threats, and Protective Mask with filters for contaminated zones.
The Season 2 Battle Pass offers four themed paths with rewards like hardware, weapon packages, soldier skins, and XP boosts, unlocking an Ultimate Path upon completion. BF Pro provides extra unlocks, tier skips, and exclusive content.
Update 1.2.1.0 includes over 240 improvements, focusing on weapon balance, recoil tuning, movement fixes, vehicle reliability, map exploits, UI polish, and Portal stability, all shaped by community feedback and match data.
