DCI rescues five women from suspected online exploitation ring in Nairobi

Five women were rescued from a house in Nairobi's Mihang’o area on Tuesday after detectives uncovered an alleged online sexual exploitation operation. The victims had been lured with fake job offers before being forced to produce sexual content.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ Transnational Organized Crime Unit carried out the intelligence-led raid in Embakasi East. They arrested a 43-year-old woman who operated the premises, her 24-year-old daughter suspected of recruiting victims, and her 30-year-old son-in-law who maintained computer systems.

The suspects are held at Kasarani Police Station and are expected to face trafficking charges under the Counter-Trafficking in Persons Act. Several items believed used in the operation were recovered and documented.

The DCI warned job seekers to verify offers from unverified recruiters. The rescued women will receive shelter, medical care and psychosocial support.
