Delphine Pinto sentenced to 30 years for ordering husband's murder

Delphine Pinto has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for ordering the murder of her husband in 2021.

The special assize court of the Oise delivered its verdict in the night from Friday to Saturday. Delphine Pinto, aged 48, was found guilty of provoking the organized murder of Jean-Christophe Piel.

Yassine Zekri, tried alongside her, was found guilty of shooting the victim and also received 30 years with a two-thirds security period. Jean-Christophe Piel had been killed by a bullet to the head while gardening at his home in the Oise.

During the trial, which began on May 29, Delphine Pinto admitted she may have wished her husband dead but denied commissioning the killing. Her lawyers had pleaded for acquittal.
