The closure, effective immediately as of March 5, 2026, is expected to last through late April 2026. Guests are directed to alternative pools on the property during this period.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort, a Disney Deluxe Villa Resort, is undergoing refurbishments that include the immediate closure of several guest areas. According to the Walt Disney World Resort website, the South Point Pool and Spa, BBQ area, and playground will remain closed for routine maintenance through late April 2026, spanning about two months. Hotel guests may notice or hear maintenance activity during daytime hours, as Disney aims to schedule work when visitors are typically at the theme parks or Disney Springs.
To minimize disruption, Disney encourages guests to use the Sandcastle Pool or the resort’s other leisure pools: the Turtle Pond Pool and Miller’s Road Pool. The Turtle Pond Pool, Spa, BBQ area, and playground had previously undergone similar routine maintenance earlier in 2026, closing for several weeks. Additionally, the resort is refurbishing rooms in stages and recently updated the decor at Olivia’s Cafe, a table-service dining location, which involved removing hundreds of family vacation photos from Disney Vacation Club members.
This closure is part of broader maintenance efforts across Disney World hotels. At Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, the Fuentes del Morro Water Play Area has been closed since February 9, 2026, for routine maintenance and is expected to reopen in early March 2026, while the Fuentes del Morro pool remains open. Separately, Disney’s Beach Club Resort’s Tidal Leisure Pool is closed through early May 2026, and the Yacht Club Resort’s Admiral leisure pool is also closed until early May, though the shared Stormalong Bay pool complex is unaffected. Most other resort amenities, including dining options, continue to operate normally.
These updates reflect ongoing preparations to ensure facilities are in optimal condition, particularly ahead of peak summer visitation.
