Matthei joins UDI work table on employment

Former minister Evelyn Matthei attended a UDI meeting on Monday to address Chile's employment crisis. The session took place at the party headquarters at 8:30 a.m.

Deputy Constanza Hube organized the table “More work for Chile”. Matthei, a UDI militant and fifth-place finisher in last year’s presidential election, joined specialists and former officials to discuss labor proposals.

The country’s unemployment rate stands at 9.4 %. Hube said the group aims to encourage concessions, train women and review labor costs along with litigation affecting small and medium enterprises.

Within the UDI, Matthei’s attendance is viewed positively. They see it as a possible shift toward offering proposals to José Antonio Kast’s government rather than public criticism.
