Country singer Megan Moroney has surprised fans by dropping the title track from her upcoming third studio album, Cloud 9, set for release on February 20. The new single follows earlier releases like '6 Months Later' and 'Wish I Didn’t,' shifting to themes of joyful love. A special Songwriter’s Edition vinyl and a supporting tour have also been announced.
Megan Moroney, the 28-year-old country artist known for her previous album Am I Okay? in 2024, has released the title track 'Cloud 9' ahead of her third studio album's debut on February 20. The song, built on a mellow, dreamlike groove featuring steel guitar, contrasts with the heartache explored in prior singles '6 Months Later,' 'Beautiful Things,' and 'Wish I Didn’t.' Co-written with Luke Laird, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Ernest Keith Smith, it celebrates the highs of romance, particularly in its chorus: “I'm walking on sunshine, holding your hand / You're putting stars in my eyes like no one else can / You get me high, high, high / You give me that look, I'm floating on air / No, nothing else matters with your hands in my hair / I never want to leave where we are now / It's a long, long way, way down / Down to cloud nine.”
Moroney announced a Songwriter’s Edition of Cloud 9 on vinyl via Instagram, describing it as her personal favorite. The edition features songs in the order they were written, new packaging, handwritten lyrics, and a deeper look into her creative process. It is pressed on purple 'Cloud' vinyl with exclusive cover artwork, a gatefold sleeve, and a bonus insert, available for pre-order.
To promote the album, Moroney will embark on The Cloud 9 Tour, kicking off on May 29 in North America and wrapping on October 1, with subsequent dates in the UK and Europe in September and October. Tickets are on sale now, with details and pre-orders accessible on her official website. The release and tour signal a busy year for the singer-songwriter, promising a diverse emotional journey through her music.
