Angela Santomero expands YouTube kids series into books

Emmy Award-winning creator Angela C. Santomero is launching a new early-reader book series based on her popular YouTube Kids animated property, Princess Penelope's Purse of Preposterous Things. The debut titles will release on April 21, 2026, in partnership with publisher 4U2B Books & Media. The series aims to help preschoolers build skills like problem-solving and emotional regulation through interactive stories.

On March 12, 2026, Angela C. Santomero, known for creating hit children's series such as Blue's Clues, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, and Super Why!, announced the expansion of her latest digitally animated project into print. The YouTube Kids series, Princess Penelope's Purse of Preposterous Things, has garnered over 4 million views in its first month since release. Set in the watercolor world of Storybook Meadow, the books introduce interactive read-aloud adventures where Princess Penelope employs imagination and kindness to assist her friends with challenges.

The initial releases include the lead title, Princess Penelope's Purse of Preposterous Things, and Dragon's Marshmallow Mess, both scheduled for April 21, 2026, at major retailers for $19.99 each in hardcover. These stories incorporate Santomero's signature "pause-and-play" approach, encouraging children to predict outcomes and reflect on decisions, mirroring techniques from her previous works.

"I've always believed stories should help children practice for real life," Santomero stated. "Princess Penelope shows kids that imagination and empathy are powerful tools they can use to take a moment, think, and help others. That's how true confidence grows."

The animated series is currently available on YouTube Kids, with plans underway for broader broadcast and streaming distribution. Additional book titles are set for fall 2026. Santomero, who holds a Master's in Child Developmental Psychology from Columbia University–Teachers College, has pioneered research-backed interactive storytelling across platforms like Nickelodeon, PBS, Amazon, and Netflix. She is also the founder of Make A Kids Show and author of Radical Kindness and Life Clues.

4U2B Books & Media, an imprint of Loyola Press, focuses on content that fosters self-awareness, social skills, and a love of reading in young audiences. Review copies are available upon request via publicity@4u2bbooks.com.
