At the Indian Wells BNP Paribas Open, Gabriela Dabrowski of Ottawa and her Brazilian partner Luisa Stefani, the second seeds in women's doubles, secured a 6-4, 6-2 win over Americans Peyton Stearns and Ingrid Neel on Monday. Mboko and Andreeva now advance to face Serbia's Aleksandra Krunic and Russian-born Kazakhstani Anna Danilina in the quarterfinals.
On the men's side, Brazil's Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos dispatched Montreal's Gabriel Diallo and American Evan King 6-2, 6-2 in 59 minutes. The Brazilians notched two aces and two double faults, winning four of 10 break points and saving their only break point. They held all eight service games and took four of eight return games.
Diallo and King had no aces and one double fault, winning four of eight service games but none on returns. They saved six of 10 break points but lost their sole opportunity. Luz and Matos proceed to the round of 16 against American Christian Harrison and Britain's Neal Skupski.
