Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem in the New Administrative Capital to review the ministry's vision and work plan for the coming phase. Madbouly stressed that the industrial sector is among the government's top priorities, noting the momentum from recent economic reforms. Hashem presented a roadmap focused on increasing non-oil exports through several strategic pillars.
In a meeting held at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized that the industrial sector holds a prominent place in the government's agenda during this stage. He attributed the improvement in Egyptian industry's performance indicators over recent months to unprecedented government support, underscoring the state's commitment to additional facilitative measures aimed at localizing and deepening industrial production, boosting exports, achieving broader economic and social goals, and reducing the import bill.
Madbouly highlighted ongoing efforts to attract further domestic and foreign investments in key industrial sectors and to expand partnerships with major international companies in specialized fields. He also stressed the importance of identifying promising export opportunities, selecting optimal project locations across governorates and industrial zones, aligning with global industrial trends, expanding green industries, and investing in workforce training to enhance competitiveness and generate foreign currency revenues. He added that he will continue holding regular meetings with representatives of industrial chambers and export councils to review their proposals and discuss mechanisms to advance the sector.
Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem presented the ministry's roadmap for the upcoming period, which focuses on increasing non-oil exports. The strategic pillars include human capital development through expanding structured vocational training programs to produce skilled labor addressing gaps in the labor market, particularly in targeted industrial sectors. It also covers product development by scaling up production of competitive goods based on scientific and technological methodologies, while strengthening feeder and intermediate industries, enhancing regulatory bodies' efficiency to ensure product quality, and expanding green supply chains to improve the global competitiveness of Egyptian products.
Regarding processes and procedures, Hashem announced the preparation of an integrated industrial map detailing all available investment opportunities and their sectors, along with additional incentives, modernizing the industrial ecosystem, and removing obstacles facing investors. He further disclosed the establishment of a comprehensive database covering production capacities and market needs, focusing on strategic sectors, as well as expanding automation of licensing, land allocation, and investor services, alongside activating performance monitoring systems in affiliated entities. The ministry aims to establish and develop five priority industries, each supported by five complementary feeder industries, selected based on domestic demand, export potential, and competitive advantage. The strategy will be implemented through partnerships with leading global, regional, and local companies, taking into account social, technical, and logistical considerations within the national industrial map.
