Starbucks Bernabéu named best chain coffee shop in Spain

Starbucks’ flagship store at the Bernabéu stadium has won the Best Chain Coffee Shop award at The Best Coffee Shop Awards. The recognition came during Coffee Fest, Spain’s leading professional trade fair for the coffee industry. The award highlights the store’s excellence in coffee expertise, customer experience, and innovation.

The Best Coffee Shop Awards, part of The Best Coffee Shops Spain initiative, honor establishments for overall excellence in the coffee sector. In the Branded Coffee Shop category, judges assess factors such as coffee expertise, customer experience, design, innovation, and operational consistency. Starbucks Bernabéu earned the top spot for Best Chain Coffee Shop, establishing it as a national benchmark in the organized coffee shop segment.

Located inside the newly refurbished Bernabéu stadium in Madrid, the store champions single-origin coffee and serves as a global benchmark and culinary laboratory for the brand. It offers exclusive products not available in standard Starbucks locations. The space reinforces the barista’s role as an expert guide, creating experiences where coffee, culture, and food combine for memorable moments.

Opened on 22 August, Starbucks Bernabéu is the brand’s largest store in Spain. Overlooking the pitch, it features a dedicated mixology area, Starbucks Reserve coffees, and immersive experiences centered on various brewing methods. These are led by coffee masters—professional baristas with specialist training who wear the signature black apron.

“Receiving the 'Best Chain Coffee Shop' award for our flagship store at Bernabéu is a source of pride that further proves our commitment to excellence and innovation,” said Fernando Albarrán, Marketing Director of Starbucks Spain. “This recognition highlights not only a unique space with unparalleled views, but also our baristas' passion and our commitment to offering high-quality, sustainably sourced coffee—from plantations in Costa Rica or Rwanda to the cup. Customers can also enjoy exclusive experiences and products they will not find in any other store.”

In less than six months, the store has become a benchmark in the capital.
