Anisimova then won the final nine games, dominating the second and third sets.
Anisimova landed 68.4 percent of her first serves, winning 69.2 percent of those points and 41.7 percent on second serves, compared to Blinkova's 67.6 percent first-serve rate and lower point-win percentages of 52.1 percent and 17.4 percent, respectively. It marks her seventh main-draw appearance at Indian Wells, where her best result was reaching the round of 16 in her 2018 debut against Karolina Pliskova.
Meanwhile, No. 25 seed Emma Raducanu of Great Britain secured a straight-sets 6-1, 6-3 win over qualifier Anastasia Zakharova, advancing to the third round for the fourth time. The upcoming matchup between Anisimova and Raducanu will determine a spot in the round of 16. Raducanu leads their career head-to-head 2-1, with all meetings on hard courts in 2025: she won in the second round of the Australian Open and fourth round of the Miami Open, while Anisimova prevailed in the round of 32 in Montreal.
