Egypt urban inflation eases to 14.3% in June

Egypt's annual urban headline inflation eased to 14.3% in June 2026 from 14.6% in May, driven by slower food price rises, the Central Bank of Egypt reported.

The Central Bank of Egypt said the moderation came mainly from annual food inflation falling to 5.4% in June from 7.6% in May. Non-food inflation continued to rise, led by higher services prices.

On a monthly basis, urban headline inflation recorded -0.4% in June compared with 1.6% in May. Lower prices for poultry, eggs and fresh vegetables drove the decline.

Annual core inflation increased slightly to 14.3% from 13.8% in May. Annual rural headline inflation eased to 10.1% from 11.4%, bringing nationwide headline inflation to 12.2%.
