Toyota South Africa Motors has launched the 2026 Toyota Equestrian Series in partnership with Kyalami Park Club, marking the fifth year of their collaboration. The event, held on February 18, introduced a new competition calendar and increased prizes to boost participation and engagement. This initiative continues to elevate equestrian sports in South Africa across disciplines like showjumping and dressage.
The launch of the 2026 Toyota Equestrian Series took place at the Kyalami Park Club on February 18, continuing a partnership between Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) and the club that began four years ago. Over this period, the collaboration has raised the profile of equestrian sports, expanded the audience, and encouraged greater involvement in various disciplines.
At the event, organizers revealed the 2026 schedule and an upgraded prize structure to attract more riders and spectators. TSAM marketing vice president Glenn Crompton expressed optimism for the upcoming season, stating, “As we kickstart the fifth year of our partnership with Kyalami Park Club, we look forward to leveraging what has become a cornerstone of our commitment to advancing equestrian sport in South Africa. As a family-oriented brand, we are honoured to welcome riders, supporters, and communities from across the country to the 2026 equestrian season. The enhanced prize purse underscores our confidence in the growing stature of the series and our belief in the remarkable depth of local talent. We look forward to witnessing the pursuit of excellence that defines this competition.”
The showjumping component, branded as the ultimate 4×4 series powered by Toyota, includes four key events: the Toyota Easter Festival from March 28 to April 6, the Toyota Midrand World Cup Qualifier from May 28 to 31, the Toyota SA Showjumping Championships from July 29 to August 2, and the 2026 Toyota SA Derby from October 1 to 5. The series champion will receive a new Toyota Hilux D/C Legend.
The 2026 Toyota South African Dressage Championships will feature top horse and rider pairs nationwide, with a draw offering a Toyota Starlet Cross as the prize.
KPC event director Heather Mpofu noted the partnership's importance, saying, “Entering our fifth year of partnership with Toyota is a significant milestone. Their continued investment in our sport and our community enables us to deliver world-class events that showcase the very best of South African equestrian talent. Each year, the series grows in scale, impact, and reach, and we are proud to work alongside a partner that shares our vision for excellence.”
Additionally, KPC highlighted its academy, which supports 15 riders through training in equestrian skills, including preparation, administration, and horse care, aiming to develop both athletes and individuals.
