Actor David Lim, known for playing Officer Victor Tan in the original S.W.A.T. series, will make a guest appearance in the upcoming spinoff S.W.A.T. Exiles. This comes after Lim expressed feeling overlooked by the spinoff's initial announcement. The series stars Shemar Moore reprising his role as Sgt. Daniel 'Hondo' Harrelson.
The S.W.A.T. universe is expanding with the spinoff S.W.A.T. Exiles, which was ordered to series just two days after the original show concluded its eight-season run on CBS last May. David Lim, who portrayed Officer Victor Tan across all eight seasons, has been cast for a guest appearance in the penultimate episode of the spinoff's first season, according to Variety.
Lim had previously voiced his disappointment over the spinoff announcement. In an Instagram post, he wrote: "I'd be lying if I said the rollout of the new spinoff didn't sting. It was tough to see it announced just two days after our finale — with no mention of the cast who helped build 'S.W.A.T.' from day one. After [eight] incredible seasons, it felt like we were brushed aside when there could've been a moment of reflection and recognition — for the people who built this show, and for the impact it had on so many."
Other original cast members are also involved. Jay Harrington, who played Sgt. David 'Deacon' Kay, and Patrick St. Esprit, who portrayed Commander Robert 'Bob' Hicks, will guest-star in the pilot episode. Harrington had similarly shared feeling blindsided by the news in an exclusive interview with TVLine.
S.W.A.T. Exiles follows Sgt. Daniel 'Hondo' Harrelson, played by Shemar Moore, as he is pulled from forced retirement to lead an experimental S.W.A.T. unit of young recruits after a mission goes wrong. The logline describes how Hondo must bridge generational gaps and unify the team to protect the city. The spinoff does not yet have a U.S. network home or premiere date.
