Elevation Lab has discounted its 10-year extended battery case for Apple's AirTag to $16 at Amazon. The accessory aims to prolong the tracker's battery life significantly using AA batteries. This deal marks a 30 percent reduction from the usual $23 price.
Apple's AirTag serves as a popular tracking device for iPhone users monitoring their belongings. The recently released second-generation model improves on the original in most aspects, though it still lacks a keyring hole. To address battery concerns, Elevation Lab offers an extended battery case designed for long-term use without frequent replacements.
Currently available on Amazon for $16, down from $23, this represents a 30 percent discount. Elevation Lab claims the case can extend the AirTag's battery life to up to 10 years by incorporating two AA batteries, with Energizer Ultimate Lithium recommended for optimal performance. In contrast, the standard AirTag operates for over a year on its CR2032 button cell battery.
The case provides added protection, featuring a seal with four screws and an IP69 waterproof rating. Its design disguises the AirTag, potentially deterring thieves from recognizing the tracking capability in stolen items. However, it is bulky, making it unsuitable for slim attachments like wallets or keys, and it lacks a keyring hole.
A notable drawback is the muffled sound from the enclosed AirTag, reducing volume to about two-thirds of normal. The louder second-generation AirTag may offset this to some extent. This accessory suits scenarios like placing the tracker in luggage or backpacks for extended periods without maintenance.
