Elisabeth Moss stars in upcoming legal thriller Conviction

Elisabeth Moss will lead the cast and serve as an executive producer in Conviction, a new legal drama adapted from Jack Jordan's 2023 novel. The series, written by David Shore of House and The Good Doctor fame, is set to stream on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK. It follows a lawyer blackmailed while defending a high-profile murder case.

David Shore, known for creating the medical dramas House, which starred Hugh Laurie, and The Good Doctor, featuring Freddie Highmore, has written the adaptation of Conviction. The project draws from Jack Jordan's 2023 best-selling novel of the same name.

Elisabeth Moss, recognized for her roles in The Handmaid's Tale, Mad Men, Jordan Peele's Us, and The Invisible Man, takes the lead as Criminal Defense Attorney Neve Harper. The official synopsis states: "Criminal Defense Attorney Neve Harper, a confident lawyer who finally has her shot at a career-making case: a high-profile murder where the husband is accused of killing his wife by setting their home on fire. But when a mysterious stranger begins blackmailing Neve, she is forced to compromise every legal, moral and ethical obligation to gain an acquittal - or else risk her dark secrets being exposed."

This marks the first adaptation of one of Jordan's novels, though his books Redemption and Deception are also in development. Conviction and Redemption were long-listed for the Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year in 2024 and 2025, respectively. Jordan's other works include Anything For Her (2015), My Girl (2016), A Woman Scorned (2018), and the 2022 Sunday Times best-seller Do No Harm.

For Moss, aged 43, Conviction is her third Hulu series, following The Handmaid's Tale and its sequel The Testaments, which premieres on April 8. She recently acted and produced in the FX series The Veil and will do the same for the Apple TV drama Imperfect Women.
