Nicolás Grau, former finance minister, has begun contacting centrist-right figures to present his arguments against a constitutional accusation scheduled for next Monday.
Former finance minister Nicolás Grau is awaiting the filing of a constitutional accusation against him for alleged mismanagement of public finances. The document, backed by Libertarian and Republican sectors, is set to be presented next Monday. Grau has personally reached out to right-wing lawmakers. He sent a five-page document via WhatsApp to deputies including Jorge Guzmán of Evópoli and Joanna Pérez of Demócratas, defending the valuation of public debt and disputing claims of an error exceeding US$10 billion. Separately, former education minister Harald Beyer defended Grau on a La Tercera program. “It makes no sense and I do not think minister Grau deserves this treatment,” he said, drawing a parallel to the accusation he once faced.
