Fylde Council has launched a formal tender to develop a padel tennis concession at Fairhaven Lake and Gardens, aiming to introduce one of the world's fastest-growing sports to the area. The initiative follows an initial expression of interest exercise conducted last year. Operators are invited to propose and manage facilities on the site's two full-size tennis courts in a lakeside setting.
Fylde Council has opened a competitive tender process for a padel tennis concession at Fairhaven Lake and Gardens, a popular destination in the Fylde area. This move seeks to bring padel tennis, described as one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, to the location, which features two full-size tennis courts in a stunning lakeside setting.
The council developed the opportunity after an initial expression of interest exercise last year. The tender is designed to be fully open, competitive, and transparent, with clear evaluation criteria for bidders. Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism and Leisure, commented: "This is a really exciting next step in bringing padel tennis to Fairhaven. We want to see innovative, ambitious operators come forward with proposals that make the most of this wonderful location, delivering a modern, vibrant sports facility that residents and visitors will genuinely love."
Interested leisure operators can access the tender documentation via reference DN793521 on the platform at https://www.the-chest.org.uk/. Submissions are due by 5pm on Thursday, 2 April. The council anticipates strong interest from the sector to enhance leisure options at the site.
