Ice Spice says depression caused her weight loss, not Ozempic

Rapper Ice Spice has addressed rumors about her body transformation, insisting it stemmed from depression rather than the weight-loss drug Ozempic. She shared this in a recent social media exchange, marking her first public mention of mental health struggles. Previously, she credited gym workouts and her tour schedule for changes in her physique.

Ice Spice first captured attention in 2022 with her music and curvaceous figure. A couple of years later, fans noticed her slimmer appearance, sparking speculation about Ozempic use amid its popularity among celebrities for rapid weight loss. She eventually regained her fuller physique, which only fueled the rumors further.

On February 25, responding to a fan on X who commented on her workout video, "This weak a** video just shows it was definitely from Ozempic," Ice Spice clarified, "Na it was depression im better now tho." This exchange represents the first time the "Munch" artist has openly discussed her depression.

Earlier, in November, she posted a twerking clip on Instagram Stories, captioning it, "so happy to be thick asf again," as reported by Complex. She has consistently pushed back against Ozempic claims. Back in August 2024, during an X Spaces chat covered by People, she vented, "I wish y’all never learned the word Ozempic. That’s one thing I wish. Oh my God, like, what even is Ozempic? What the f**k is that? Genuinely, what is that?"

At the time, Ice Spice was on her world tour promoting her debut album Y2K! She attributed her weight changes to lifestyle factors, stating, "Like, you lazy a** b****es never heard of a gym? It’s called the gym. It’s called eating healthy. It’s called being on tour. Like, what the h*ll? Maybe if I was sitting home all day, it would be easier to stay big."

While the industry buzzes with Ozempic stories, Ice Spice keeps it real about her journey—depression included. So, is the tea on her transformation finally settled?
