Supreme Court minister Alexandre de Moraes kept Jair Bolsonaro under house arrest but suspended visits for 30 days and banned contacts for political-electoral purposes until the 2026 elections.

The decision was issued Friday night (17) after the Attorney General's Office flagged a violation of house arrest rules. Flávio Bolsonaro read a letter written by his father on social media the previous Saturday.

Moraes suspended the right to receive visits for 30 days, except for lawyers, doctors and physiotherapists. Flávio remains barred from visiting his father for 90 days under a prior ruling from July 13.

The minister also banned the release of political-electoral manifestos, even by third parties. Attorney General Paulo Gonet supported keeping the house arrest but recommended stricter rules to prevent electoral interference.

Moraes warned that any further breach could lead to revocation of the benefit and return to closed regime. Bolsonaro's defense denied that the former president knew the letter would be made public.
