The Nevada Wolf Pack women's track and field team secured second place with 84 points at the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Indoor Championships, held February 26-28, 2026, at the Reno-Tahoe Indoor Track—the program's first time hosting and its best conference finish since joining the Mountain West in 2012.
The three-day Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships concluded on February 28 at the Reno-Tahoe Indoor Track in Reno, Nevada. Hosting for the first time, Nevada exceeded expectations, finishing behind dominant New Mexico (165 points) with 84 points—the Wolf Pack's highest Mountain West finish and best indoor conference result since their 2004 WAC title.
Prior to the meet, healthier than last year's ninth-place team, coach Shantel Twiggs acknowledged New Mexico's depth but eyed silver: "We have a legitimate shot... My athletes have been rallying with the record-breaking performances." She rallied the squad on home advantage: "This is our house. Show everybody this is our house. Let's do it together and do it three days in a row."
Standout performances propelled Nevada: Annalies Kalma won gold in the 200m (school-record 23.27 seconds, 10 points) and silver in the 400m (51.84 seconds, 8 points), while anchoring the silver 4x400m relay (3:38.40 with Malena Galvan, Kylee Parsons, Halyn Senegal; 8 points). Meekness Dogonyaro took silver in the triple jump (school-record 13.19m). Kaja Maltaric earned silver in the long jump and fifth in triple jump (12.52m). Johanna Haas claimed silver in the pentathlon (3963 points). Other top finishes: Magdalene George (fourth, 60m, 7.36 seconds), Alma Kathan (fourth, long jump and pentathlon, 3831 points), Stina Larsson (fifth, high jump).
Final women's standings: New Mexico 165, Nevada 84, Colorado State 73, Boise State 60, San Diego State 56.5, Air Force 47, Grand Canyon 46, Utah State 37.5, Fresno State 36, UNLV 32, Wyoming 18, San Jose State 8. Colorado State won the men's title with 138 points over New Mexico's 122.
Twiggs praised the effort: "All season, our women have been showing up and showing out... We got a chance to show the Mountain West and the rest of the world that we have it and we did it."
