Senate Majority Leader John Thune described a lengthy discussion on national security issues. Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso also confirmed a roughly 20-minute talk that included legal and political matters.
McConnell’s office stated that the 84-year-old senator continues to improve and is working with staff on Kentucky and Senate issues. His office has not released details on the cause of the hospitalization or expected return date.
The updates follow speculation that intensified after conservative activist Laura Loomer claimed McConnell was brain dead. McConnell has been hospitalized since June 14 at his Washington residence.
