President Donald Trump has suggested replacing a planned concert for America's 250th anniversary with a rally headlined by himself after multiple musicians canceled their appearances.
The Great American State Fair, organized by Freedom 250, was set to run from June 25 to July 10 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The event aimed to celebrate the semiquincentennial but faced cancellations after its ties to the Trump administration became public. Artists who withdrew include Bret Michaels, Martina McBride, The Commodores, Young MC, and one member of Milli Vanilli. Vanilla Ice and Flo Rida remained on the lineup initially. Trump posted on Truth Social that he would step in with a speech, describing himself as drawing larger audiences than Elvis Presley and calling for an “AMERICA IS BACK” rally on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. Organizers of Freedom 250 confirmed he would headline the opening ceremony. The original bipartisan America250 commission had planned nationwide events, but Freedom 250 operates separately through private funding. Critics noted the shift turns a patriotic commemoration into a political event.
