Bus driver rescues student from Periyar River

A private bus driver rescued a 20-year-old woman who jumped into the Periyar River from the Paravur-Manjali Bridge on Friday afternoon.

The driver, identified as Ajesh, aged 41, stopped his bus after spotting a crowd on the bridge. He then entered the swollen river to bring the woman to safety.

She was taken to the Ernakulam Government Medical College Hospital. Her condition was reported as stable.

The incident occurred after the woman reportedly became distressed over below-par exam results.
