Colombia’s president-elect Abelardo De La Espriella announced that Cali will serve as an alternate seat of the Presidency during his term, which will begin on August 7.
The proposal is part of the governance model he will implement from the start of his administration and includes presidential offices in different regions of the country, in addition to the main seat in Bogotá.
During a public intervention, De La Espriella explained that his administration will not concentrate all management in the Casa de Nariño. “We are going to have an alternate seat of the Presidency. You know that I have said that I will not govern from the Casa de Nariño. Well, I will go to Bogotá, of course, but I will be in all regions of the country,” he stated.
The scheme includes three alternate seats. One will operate in Barranquilla, another in Cali and a third in Medellín. The governor of Antioquia offered the Palacio Rafael Uribe Uribe for the Medellín seat.
