Ancelotti starts 2030 cycle focusing on youth and veterans

Coach Carlo Ancelotti arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday and met with CBF officials to plan the Brazilian national team's new cycle.

Ancelotti stated that he will begin assembling a new team by testing young players but without giving up athletes who participated in the 2026 World Cup. Brazil was eliminated in the round of 16 after a 2-1 defeat to Norway.

The coach, with his contract renewed until 2030, highlighted the need to make room for younger athletes, while veterans such as Danilo, Casemiro and Neymar, all aged 34, are expected to gradually step aside.

The cycle will start with friendlies in September against Australia in Townsville and Brisbane. The first official match will only take place in the second half of 2027 during qualifiers for the 2030 World Cup. The Copa America is scheduled for 2028 in the United States.

Rodrigo Caetano, general coordinator of men's teams, said the work aims to represent the country well in upcoming competitions, including the qualifiers and the Copa America.
