Apple is preparing to introduce more colorful options in its upcoming budget-friendly MacBook, as reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The new model, aimed at students and enterprise users, has undergone testing with light yellow, light green, blue, and pink hues. Gurman noted that the company has also evaluated its traditional silver and dark gray finishes. While not all six colors are guaranteed for the final version, this move aligns with Apple's recent trend toward brighter designs. For instance, the iMac was refreshed in 2024 with seven color choices, and the latest MacBook Air replaced space gray with sky blue.
To reach the affordable price point of $699 to $799, Apple plans to incorporate iPhone-designed chips, such as the A18 Pro from the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Compromises may occur in specifications, ports, or display quality to control costs. However, the shell will maintain premium materials; Gurman indicated that Apple will use a new manufacturing process for aluminum casings rather than switching to plastic.
The announcement is slated for an event in March, potentially revealing the selected colors and other details. This development reflects Apple's strategy to make its laptops more appealing without sacrificing build quality.
