Flatout Games releases Forage and Honeypot board games

Flatout Games has introduced two new tabletop games, Forage and Honeypot, designed for quick sessions with up to six players. The games, created by designers Shawn Stankewich and Joseph Z. Chen respectively, are launching together on Kickstarter. They emphasize engaging themes like foraging and secret agent bears.

Flatout Games, known for titles like Point Galaxy and Propolis, has unveiled Forage and Honeypot, two compact board games promising substantial gameplay in a small package. Both are set for a joint Kickstarter launch and have already sparked interest among enthusiasts.

Shawn Stankewich designed Forage, while Joseph Z. Chen created Honeypot. The designers recently discussed their projects on the Table Talk radio show. Honeypot casts players as secret agent bears tasked with collecting intelligence and supplies while dodging stings. It revolves around setting traps and evasion tactics. Chen explained the theme's appeal: "Everyone loves anamorphic animals, and so it kind of worked out that we mashed together this theme of spies setting traps and making the spies bears."

Forage involves foraging mechanics, with playtesting revealing an unexpected improvement. Stankewich recounted a session where an extra die was accidentally included: "We got to play testing one time, and for whatever reason, the group had added in an extra die, so we just had an eighth die, and we had been playing with seven for a long time. We were playing the game and noting how it was progressing, and it was like Oh were playing with an extra die in this game." Feedback indicated the eighth die enhanced the experience, leading to its adoption.

Each game supports up to six players and lasts 15 to 30 minutes, making them suitable for casual gatherings. Supporters can explore Forage and Honeypot on Kickstarter. Table Talk continues with episodes every other Saturday, including an upcoming one on March 7th featuring Camilla Cleghorn from the Dice Tower.
