Lenovo has introduced two AI companion concepts at Mobile World Congress 2026, including the purchasable Magic Bay Tiko accessory for laptops. Tiko serves as an animated focus aid with timer features, while the AI Workmate remains a stationary robot prototype for creative tasks. These devices highlight growing integration of AI into physical accessories.
At Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, Lenovo presented advancements in AI companions designed to assist users in work and productivity. The Magic Bay Tiko, first shown as a concept at last year's event, is now slated for release later this year as an accessory for compatible Lenovo laptops.
Tiko attaches magnetically to the top of a laptop display via the Magic Bay port. This circular module features an animated character that users can engage through text, voice, or emojis. It performs basic tasks such as starting or stopping music, opening web pages, and answering questions. A standout function is its body-doubling capability, where Tiko acts as a virtual accountability partner during work sessions.
The device includes a flexible timer similar to the pomodoro technique—typically 25 minutes of focused work followed by a 5-minute break—but allows customization. Users can initiate a wellness break for 10 minutes of relaxation or join Tiko in one-minute breathing exercises to maintain calm. For instance, sending a book emoji prompts Tiko to don glasses and simulate reading alongside the user.
Pricing and exact launch details for Tiko remain undisclosed, and it requires a Lenovo laptop equipped with the Magic Bay port.
In contrast, the AI Workmate is a tabletop robot concept resembling a Pixar lamp with an orb-shaped head. Equipped with cameras, microphones, and projectors, it supports tasks like creating presentations or digitizing handwritten notes. During a demonstration, it produced a three-slide presentation titled 'The Majestic Giraffe: Nature's Tall Enigma' using Lenovo's models, projecting it onto a nearby wall. It also generated a Barcelona postcard image, scanned added handwritten text, and sent the result to a printer.
These concepts reflect broader trends in AI wearables and accessories for logging, scheduling, and creative assistance, though the Workmate's bulky design raises questions about desk practicality.
