Manon Bannerman takes temporary hiatus from KATSEYE

Manon Bannerman, a member of the global girl group KATSEYE under HYBE and Geffen Records, has announced a temporary hiatus to focus on her health and wellbeing. The joint statement from the labels confirms her absence from upcoming activities, including Lollapalooza and Coachella performances. Bannerman shared a reassuring message to fans on WeVerse.

Manon Bannerman of KATSEYE has stepped back from group activities for a temporary period, as announced in a joint statement from HYBE and Geffen Records on February 24, 2026. The statement reads, “Manon will be taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing.” It adds, “KATSEYE remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us.”

In a personal message posted on her WeVerse DM channel, Bannerman addressed her fans directly: “Sometimes things unfold in ways we don’t fully control, but I’m trusting the bigger picture. Thank you for standing by me.” She will miss KATSEYE's scheduled Lollapalooza concerts in March and their performance at the Coachella Arts & Music Festival in April.

KATSEYE, formed as a collaboration between the Korean entertainment company HYBE and American label Geffen Records, debuted as a global girl group. This hiatus marks another departure from HYBE-affiliated girl groups, though Bannerman's is described as temporary and health-focused, unlike some past cases.

For context, last December, HYBE subsidiary ADOR terminated the exclusive contract of NewJeans member Danielle Marsh, a Korean-Australian lyricist credited on hits like “Super Shy” and “Attention.” ADOR subsequently filed a lawsuit against Marsh, one of her family members, and former CEO Min Heejin for approximately $30 million, stemming from a year-long dispute involving claims of mistreatment and contract termination attempts by the members. Marsh responded in a YouTube livestream: “I fought until the very end to be together with the [NewJeans] members and that truth stays with me. NewJeans will always be a part of my heart.” Earlier this February, ADOR updated NewJeans' Spotify bio by removing members’ names and replaced social media banners with the group’s text logo.

In 2022, Le Sserafim member Kim Garam’s contract with HYBE and Source Music was terminated two months after debut amid online backlash over bullying allegations and underage smoking claims. Kim initially denied the accusations but later admitted to receiving Degree 5 Disciplinary Action from her school’s violence committee. In her statement, she said, “I am working hard to become a better person. I’m endlessly thankful to my precious fans who love and support me.”

Additionally, in 2024, all nine members of Fromis_9 amicably ended their contracts with HYBE subsidiary PLEDIS Entertainment after discussions about their future hopes. PLEDIS described it as an “amicable conclusion.” Five members have since signed with ASND Entertainment and plan to release their first Japanese EP this April.

In February 2026, three members of the K-pop group NewJeans—Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein—were sighted in London, attending a West End performance and rehearsing together. These appearances have fueled fan speculation about a potential trio comeback amid ongoing legal issues with their agency. The sightings come after a court ruling that upheld their contracts with HYBE's ADOR label.

KATSEYE announced that member Manon is stepping away temporarily from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing. The decision was shared via the group's fan community on Weverse. The remaining members will continue with scheduled activities during this period.

The group formed through the trainee program on 'Dream Academy' and released their debut album 'SIS (Soft Is Strong)'. This marks the first-of-its-kind global ensemble in the music industry.

Singer Lourdes Fernández of Bandana broke her silence after her ex-boyfriend Leandro García Gómez's detention for unlawful deprivation of liberty. In an Instagram post, she discussed her health, thanked supporters, and targeted former bandmate Lissa Vera. Vera responded, expressing hurt over the criticisms but blaming them on the influence of a 'madman'.

Former BBB contestant Isabelle Nogueira has announced her departure from the role of muse at the Grande Rio samba school. The decision comes less than two months before Carnival 2025, due to an ankle injury preventing her from attending rehearsals.

Kim Petras publicly pleaded with her record label, Republic Records, to drop her after months of alleged neglect. The singer claimed her album Detour has been complete for six months without a release date or payments to collaborators. She expressed frustration over lacking control in her career and vowed to release the project independently.

KATSEYE has released its new track 'Internet Girl,' sparking online buzz over a familiar toddler vocal sample. Fans initially suspected a direct lift from Melanie Martinez's 2020 song 'Fire Drill,' but the similarity stems from a shared royalty-free audio clip. This coincidence highlights common practices in modern music production.
