Marathon Burger opens new location in Long Beach

A new Marathon Burger restaurant, founded by the brother of the late rapper Nipsey Hussle, is set to open in downtown Long Beach on Sunday. The venture aims to honor Hussle's legacy through community investment. Snoop Dogg and his son are among the investors supporting the expansion.

The Marathon Burger chain, established by Samiel Asghedom following the 2019 death of his brother Nipsey Hussle, will launch its fourth location in Los Angeles County this Sunday. Situated on Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach, the restaurant continues the Marathon brand that Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, developed alongside his careers in music and fashion.

Asghedom has emphasized the project's roots in perseverance and community reinvestment, particularly in Long Beach, where he was raised. "Hard work, determination - Nothing is going to come easy," Asghedom stated. "Day by day, everybody is on their own marathon in their own life." He added that upholding Hussle's mission means ensuring communities remain focused on progress: "That was Hussle’s mission, to make sure people know and do not lose sight."

The new site comes through a collaboration with Long Beach native Snoop Dogg and his son Cordell, who served as investors. Asghedom credited them with facilitating the deal: "Snoop and his son Cordell introduced us to the mayor and made it easy to come to this space and to bring Marathon Burger to Long Beach." The menu highlights gourmet smash burgers prepared with a signature secret sauce.

Snoop Dogg is anticipated to appear at the opening event this weekend, marking a notable moment for the chain's growth.
