The Maryland Terrapins track and field team heads to Long Beach this weekend to begin the outdoor portion of their 2026 season. Friday marks the start of the outdoor schedule and the first meet of March. The team has three meets planned for March, including events at UCF on March 20-21 and Navy on March 28.
The Maryland Terrapins are entering the outdoor season with strong momentum from recent indoor performances. Tolu Akinduro set a new school record in the triple jump, breaking a 24-year-old mark with a distance of 13.36 meters. Taylor Riley ran 1:31.31 in the 600 meters, moving to fourth all-time in the event. Morgan Graham achieved a ninth-best all-time mark in the weight throw at 18.95 meters, placing 19th overall. Jasmine Sharps tied for tenth all-time in the 60 meters with a time of 7.59 seconds. Jennessa Wolfe placed ninth in the high jump at 1.75 meters. Payton Jones set a personal best in the long jump at 5.71 meters, while Ashley Thomas recorded a personal best of 8.81 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. Maya Valmon finished fourth in the 400-meter final at 52.86 seconds.
Relay teams also performed well. Ka'nai Bey, Maya Mosley, Taylor Riley, and Maya Valmon set a fifth-best all-time mark in the 4x400 meters at 3:38.84. Annika Metzger, Taylor Riley, Lucy Scothern, and Eva Rogers ran the distance medley relay in 11:38.48, the seventh-best time in program history.
Overall, 23 Terrapins rank among the program's top 10 on outdoor performance lists. On the men's side, Andrew Harmon holds the hammer throw record at 61.68 meters, Fin Essley is fourth at 59.41 meters, and Rhys Allen ranks sixth in discus at 56.34 meters. Roman Spikes is ninth in the 200 meters at 21.18 seconds, and Tanner Leach is tenth at 21.20 seconds. Men's relays include the 4x200 team of Tanner Leach, Roman Spikes, Joshua Goffe, and Darian Tarver at third all-time with 1:25.55.
Women's standouts include Armanie Coleman third all-time in the 100 meters at 11.56 seconds and 200 meters at 23.91 seconds. Maya Valmon is second in the 400 meters at 52.50 seconds. Morgan Graham holds second in discus at 54.63 meters and seventh in hammer throw at 57.55 meters. The women's 4x100 relay record is 45.02 seconds, held by Bryce Hatcher, Victoria Teasley, Armanie Coleman, and Jewel Ofotan.
