Supreme Court minister Alexandre de Moraes authorized a family visit on Wednesday to former president Jair Bolsonaro, who is serving temporary house arrest in Brasília.
The ruling, signed on the evening of June 10, allows Bolsonaro to receive daughter-in-law Fernanda Bolsonaro, the granddaughters and senator Flávio Bolsonaro from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. Visitors must undergo prior inspection and leave cell phones with security agents. Bolsonaro has been under house arrest since March 27, a measure granted by Moraes for recovery from health issues. The 90-day temporary benefit expires on June 25, when the Supreme Court will assess whether his medical condition justifies an extension. If the medical evaluation finds no need for continuation, the former president will return to the closed regime at the Papuda prison complex, where he is serving a 27-year and three-month sentence. Moraes has already imposed an electronic ankle monitor and communication restrictions as conditions of the house arrest.
