Nintendo launches free Hello, Mario app on multiple platforms

Nintendo has released Hello, Mario, a free interactive app featuring the plumber's face, available on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. The app allows children to manipulate Mario's facial features for reactions and includes a screentime limit. It forms part of Nintendo's new My Mario collection aimed at young audiences.

On February 19, 2026, Nintendo introduced Hello, Mario, a free app that provides an interactive experience centered on Mario's face. Unlike traditional platformers, the app enables users to tug, stretch, and tap various parts of Mario's head to elicit responses. For instance, pulling on his nose and right ear prompts Mario to exclaim, “Oh, yeah, Mario Time!” Other interactions include adding sunglasses, playing peek-a-boo, or combing his mustache.

The app draws comparisons to the face-manipulation feature in Super Mario 64, though it is described as less charming. After approximately 12 minutes of play, Mario goes to sleep, a design choice Nintendo intends to encourage limited screentime. Users can simply restart the app to continue.

Hello, Mario is the first digital offering in Nintendo's My Mario brand line, which targets young children, parents, and caregivers. According to Nintendo, “The My Mario collection is thoughtfully designed to bring smiles to the faces of young children, their parents, and caregivers while inspiring imaginative play. Select items have been developed in collaboration with a range of licensed partners, including Fisher-Price and TOMY.”

The release has been noted for evoking nostalgia from Mario's classic era, positioning it as a simple, toy-like digital product rather than a full game.
