Spotify rolls out Mix feature for Premium playlist transitions

Spotify has made its Mix tool widely available to Premium subscribers. The feature allows users to add custom DJ-style transitions to their own playlists on mobile and desktop apps. It includes AI-generated options along with manual controls for timing and effects.

The Mix feature works exclusively on playlists created by users. It generates transitions between tracks and displays each song's tempo in beats per minute along with its Camelot Key for easier matching.

Users can reorder songs with a Smart Reorder tool before adjusting transitions. They access a mixing panel showing waveforms to set timing and apply presets such as Fade, Rise, or Blend, plus controls for volume, EQ, and filters.

The tool does not support real-time mixing. Once saved, transitions play when the Mix option is enabled and shuffle is off. The update also includes improvements to playlist controls.
