The 16-year-old from Örebro, Alice Karlsson, presented as a new Ida Björnberg, scored her first senior goal as Kif Örebro defeated Kolbotn 5-1 in a training match. The goal came during Wednesday's game at Behrn Arena. Karlsson takes the comparison to Björnberg as a great compliment.
On Wednesday, 16-year-old Alice Karlsson from Örebro was introduced as a new Ida Björnberg ahead of Kif Örebro's training match against Norwegian Kolbotn. Karlsson scored her first senior goal in the 5-1 victory at Behrn Arena. Kolbotn, which was relegated from the Norwegian top league last fall and now aims to return, was thoroughly defeated by the Örebro team.
"Being compared to Ida is a huge compliment," says Karlsson.
Kif Örebro had a strong season in elitettan and was close to qualifying for allsvenskan. Off the field, however, things have not gone as well, with an economic crisis leading the club to seek help from Örebro municipality. Municipal council chairman John Johansson (S) confirms discussions with Kif.
"We don't want a club to go under, but if it does due to its own financial problems, it's not the municipality's responsibility," says Johansson.
Despite the challenges, the match highlights talent in the squad, with Karlsson as a promising example.
