Asobo calls GTA 6 an ogre for 2026 game releases

A Plague Tale studio Asobo has described Grand Theft Auto 6 as an ogre dominating the 2026 release calendar. The studio's new game Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is set for late August, two months before GTA 6 arrives in November.

Producer Eric Chort said the team considered GTA 6 throughout production. He noted that all studios were thinking about the impact on marketing and player time.

"GTA is like the ogre, it's the biggest one," Chort said. The studio tried to adapt its plans but accepted the crowded year.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches on 27 August. Chort added that the goal remains making the most authentic game possible despite the competition.
