Christopher Judge, the voice actor for Kratos in recent God of War games, has confirmed he will not reprise the role in the upcoming Greek trilogy remakes. Instead, original actor T.C. Carson will return. Judge hinted at news on his next project with Santa Monica Studio coming late summer.

Sony Santa Monica Studio announced remakes of the original God of War Greek trilogy during a State of Play presentation last week, marking the franchise's 20th anniversary. The project details remain limited, but insights emerged from actor Christopher Judge at Fan Expo Vancouver 2026.

Judge, who has voiced Kratos since the 2018 God of War, stated he will not lend his voice to the remakes. "I have zero involvement with the original games and what they involve. Full stop," he posted on X on February 19, 2026. He confirmed T.C. Carson will reprise the role, adding that the remakes will feature a new fighting system.

During the event, captured in a now-deleted video by streamer Fuzhpuzy, Judge teased future developments. "You'll be hearing about what we're doing probably late summer," he said, referring to work with Santa Monica Studio. However, his X clarification emphasized excitement for other projects, not necessarily tied to God of War. "As much as I would love that everything I do in the future would involve SSM and GofW, I have other projects that I am super excited about. More info this summer," Judge wrote.

This follows the 2022 release of God of War Ragnarök. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier previously noted the studio's next major project, led by Cory Barlog, is not a new IP but might feel like one, dismissing sci-fi rumors. The remakes align with ongoing franchise activity, including the recent spin-off God of War: Sons of Sparta and an upcoming Amazon TV series.

Discussions on X show excitement for TC Carson reprising Kratos in the God of War trilogy remakes with new combat and content. Some users prefer the original voice actor and are cautious or disappointed about changes to the combat system. Others speculate Judge's summer project could be a new mainline God of War led by Cory Barlog. Reactions are mostly positive with minor skepticism on alterations.

Amazon's live-action adaptation of the 2018 God of War game has announced Callum Vinson as the young actor playing Kratos's son Atreus. The upcoming Prime Video adaptation of the God of War video game has announced two key casting additions: Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor and Mandy Patinkin as Odin. These roles build on previously revealed cast members, including Ryan Hurst as Kratos and Max Parker as Heimdall. The series, based on PlayStation's popular mythology-themed franchise, explores the journey of father and son Kratos and Atreus.

Teresa Palmer has been cast as Phoebe/Sif in the upcoming Prime Video God of War TV series, joining Ryan Hurst as Kratos. The show, created by Ronald D. Moore, adapts the father-son story from the 2018 and 2022 games. It has been ordered for two seasons, with no release date announced.

Building on reports of a new franchise in the God of War universe, industry leaker NateTheHate2 claims the upcoming title will feature Faye—Kratos' wife—as the lead, rather than Kratos. A 2026 reveal and first-half 2027 release are rumored, with more action-oriented gameplay.
