Alberto Núñez Feijóo proposed on Monday an instrumental motion of censure to form a PP-only government without Vox that would immediately call early elections.
The PP leader said 184 deputies are calling for immediate elections and challenged Junts and PNV to back the move to clean institutions and trigger the vote. "To call elections we do not need Vox to be in any government," he stated in interviews on Telecinco and other outlets.
Feijóo made clear he will not table the motion without guaranteed support so as not to shift attention from corruption cases surrounding the PSOE. The PP has ruled out any Vox role in that interim government.
PNV and Junts have called for elections but have so far rejected backing a motion of censure. Feijóo also appealed to critics inside the PSOE to act against Pedro Sánchez.
