BRAINERD — At the Brainerd Warriors' alpine skiing end-of-season banquet, held last week, the teams celebrated their achievements from the 2025-26 season. Piper Grillo received the Most Valuable Player award for the girls' team, recognizing her strong performance that included All-State honors for finishing third at the state meet. Jacob Halbur was similarly honored as MVP for the boys' team and also named the Most Improved skier in that group.
On the girls' side, Haddy Holbrook was selected as the Most Improved skier. For the junior varsity, Kamryn Kramer and Ezra Noskowiak were named Skiers of the Year, with Kramer additionally receiving the Grant Madison Award for Excellence.
Academic recognitions included Jace Anderson earning Academic Gold, while Svea Streeter and Beau Thuringer received Academic Silver.
Grillo's accomplishments extend beyond the local level; she and Cece Rasinski were two of 12 girls chosen to represent Team Minnesota at the Western High School Nationals, scheduled for March 15-19 in Loveland, Colorado. Grillo was part of last year's Team Minnesota squad that secured the national title.
The banquet underscored the dedication of the Brainerd Warriors programs in the Brainerd Lakes Area, focusing on both athletic and academic excellence in downhill skiing.
