Gurugram live-in partner allegedly sets woman's private parts ablaze with sanitizer

A 19-year-old woman from Tripura has alleged that her live-in partner in Gurugram poured sanitizer on her private parts and set it on fire, besides assaulting her with a knife for three days. The victim recounted to police that the accused hit her head with a metal bottle and slammed her against a door and cupboard. The accused, Shivam, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.

A horrific incident has come to light in Gurugram, where a 19-year-old woman from Tripura has accused her live-in partner, Shivam, of a brutal assault. According to the victim, she and Shivam met through an online dating app in September 2025 and began living together a few months later. The accused suspected her character and regularly beat her.

The victim told police that the abuse lasted three days recently. During this time, the accused poured sanitizer on her private parts and set it on fire, struck her head with a metal bottle, slammed her against a door and cupboard, and attacked her with a knife. She claimed that the accused promised marriage and had physical relations with her.

Gurugram police have registered an FIR under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 118(1) (hurt by dangerous weapons), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), and 69 (related to sexual intercourse). The accused, Shivam, has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. The victim's condition remains serious, and she is admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.

The victim's mother said that her daughter called her seeking help from the beatings. She stated, 'I did not know she was living with Shivam in Gurugram.' The mother has demanded additional charges of rape and attempted murder against the accused.
