Investigation of PM Gisele's death turns to homicide in São Paulo

The death of PM soldier Gisele Alves Santana, 32, initially treated as suicide, is now investigated as homicide after a report reveals lesions on her neck and face. Her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto, 53, is the main suspect due to the couple's abusive relationship. Civil Police plan to request his arrest after a meeting with the PM Corregedoria.

PM soldier Gisele Alves Santana, 32, was found dead in her home in Brás, São Paulo, on February 18. Initially classified as suspected suicide, the case took a turn after the Instituto Médico Legal (IML) report identified lesions on the victim's neck and face, with signs of fingers and nails around them. No typical defense signs were found on the body.

Her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto, 53, called rescue and police claiming Gisele had shot herself in the head. He reported entering the bathroom around 7 a.m. and hearing the shot a minute later, calling rescue at 7:57 a.m. However, a neighbor stated she heard the shot at 7:28 a.m. Additionally, the weapon, a .40 caliber Glock pistol, was found fitted in Gisele's hand, which a rescuer considered unusual in suicides. No spent cartridge was located at the scene, despite searches.

The couple, dating since 2023 and married in 2024, had a troubled relationship since Geraldo's transfer last year. They had not slept in the same room since August. Gisele's mother described her husband as 'excessively violent,' reporting he forbade his wife from wearing lipstick, high heels, and perfume. When Gisele mentioned separation, Geraldo sent a video threatening to kill himself with the gun pointed at his head, which her brother saved and presented to the police.

On Friday, February 13, Gisele called her father crying, asking to be picked up after a fight over clothesline space. She planned to leave on Saturday but decided to stay after talking with her husband. Gisele's 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship slept at her grandparents' the night before the death, upset and crying, asking not to return home due to the fights.

After the death, Geraldo showed nervousness without tears, took a shower, and went to the hospital with Gisele, who died at 12:04 p.m. Civil Police will request his arrest in a meeting on Wednesday (11) with the PM Corregedoria, considering sufficient elements linking him to the crime.
