Health tech company Luna has announced that its Luna Ring Gen 2 is now the world's first smart ring allowing voice interactions for health data. The feature, called Luna Voice, integrates with the company's AI engine LifeOS, powered by Gemini and compatible with Siri for Apple users. This enables users to log activities like meals or runs verbally without opening an app.
On Thursday, Luna revealed updates to its Luna Ring Gen 2, introducing Luna Voice, which lets users converse with the device about their health. Powered by the LifeOS AI engine and Gemini, the feature works with Siri, limiting it to Apple users initially. As Luna's only current ring model, the Gen 2 is the sole product with this capability.
The technology allows verbal logging of daily activities, such as eating a meal, taking a supplement, drinking coffee, or completing a run, helping the ring contextualize biometric data from the finger. Users can also query their health status, with responses delivered through a compatible smartphone or earbuds, reducing reliance on app interfaces.
Luna founder Amit Khatri described the innovation in a press release: “This marks a fundamental shift in what a wearable is. The Luna Ring no longer just measures the body. It understands context, connects daily behavior with biometrics and communicates back in a way that fits naturally into real life.”
Unlike many competitors, the Luna Ring requires no subscription fee, priced at $329. However, US availability is paused following a November 19 complaint by Oura to the US International Trade Commission. The complaint targeted Samsung, Reebok, Zepp Health, and Nexxbase—Luna's owner—for alleged patent infringement in imported products. On January 8, Nexxbase agreed to halt US sales voluntarily. A Luna representative stated the company aims to resume US availability within the next couple of months.
Luna first showcased related voice tech at CES 2026 with the Luna Band, a screenless wristband akin to the Whoop 5.0, which also leverages AI for health tracking. Presales for the Luna Band begin in April, with a launch at the end of May.
