Padel Box is introducing what it describes as the first structured padel ladder in London at its South Bermondsey club. The initiative, developed with input from members, uses an app to run a six-month rolling competition open to players of all levels. Official play begins in early April.
The Padel Box club in South Bermondsey, Southwark, which opened in January 2025, features five courts and now hosts this innovative ladder format. Members collaborated with the club to create an app that manages the competition, placing pairs initially based on their average Playtomic level. From there, players can challenge teams up to three positions higher on the ladder, organizing matches around their own schedules. Results determine upward or downward movement in the rankings, fostering regular games against appropriately skilled opponents and allowing participants to monitor their progress over time.
Unlike typical one-off tournaments, box leagues, or social events at other British padel clubs, this ladder provides an ongoing, season-long structure. It encourages consistent play and builds a sense of healthy rivalry within the community. Starting in April, the system will include social features, such as uploading photos of matches when submitting scores, to engage the club's members.
Rebecca Morris, Padel Box’s Marketing Director, explained the origins: “What’s really fun is this has come about from our members. We’ve worked with them to develop the idea, discuss the format and build the app. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first structured padel ladder format being run at a club in London.”
Players can sign up for the ladder immediately, with the competition kicking off at the beginning of April.
